Google previewed their new AR glasses at Google I/O yesterday.

Unlike Google Glass, These New AR Glasses Unveiled at I/O Might Actually Be Practical

This time around, Google puts aside flair to focus on features like language translation.

There wasn't a lot of detail offered, but they appear to be Focals v2.0, which were supposed to come out in 2020 before Google bought North and canceled them. One of the lead developers at North, now at Google, tweeted about them.

The clock is ticking, LaForge...

I love that Google is ostensibly targeting the consumer market with these. I am so tired of ugly enterprise devices.

Also Apple Glasses are supposedly coming out end of this year or beginning next year. I hope that we can get our refund in time to be able to put that money toward these new products coming out

Im not too particularly concerned about this application, its more of the same from my opinion.

Based on what I've seen, most people are still rehashing tech from the late 80's and early 90's. Candidly I realized that a bit too late, and we have changed strategies. Part of it is our new "camera first" strategy (more on that in another post).

Additionally, around the time Google acquired North, we were in conversations with North about IP infringement and ways to settle it out of court. Then the pandemic happened and I had bigger issues to deal with.
