Got the pre-order lock in glasses. They came as my second style choice, the blue frames. They are nice. They look great. The nose cushions are a little hard, or maybe slightly off. Either way, I will be taking these into my optometrist for adjustment. They are my new favorite pair of glasses. Maybe the frames are slightly too wide for my small head, but I get a lot of complimentary comments on them, so maybe they are just fine.
LAFORGE's patented phantom display was not included in my pair since I opted out in favor of having new glasses without any lense inclusions.
If anyone else got theirs with the Phantom display, what are you thoughts?
Since they were not Rx, she didn't wear them all the time. In the times she does, she doesn't really notice it. They don't have electronics so we don't know how it will look once the PhantomDisplay is displaying an image. Thats what the Rev0 is going to test.
So, you've had the glasses for a week now - any comments on the phantom lenses? Have they become less visible in daily use? More...?
First I want to let everyone here know also, I run my own swimming pool cleaning and repair business in Southern California and right now business is picking up(summer is right around the corner). Please forgive any prolonged delay in answering any questions.
These glasses were made with my wife's PD, so for me there is a distortion looking through the glasses. I believe this to be because the lense with the PhantomDisplay is thicker than the standard lense so the lenses have to adjust for this and is specific to each person's right and left PD. I could be wrong about this since I have not asked Corey about it so please don't take it as gospel.
My wife's experience with the glasses was great. They do not have an Rx on them(as stated above) so she used her normal glasses behind the LaForge glasses. Her glasses are minimal and fit behind the LaForge glasses just fine. She said that she if you focused on it, yes, you can see the PhantomDisplay in front of you but just normal looking around and having a conversation with someone, it disappeared and she couldn't see it. The lenses were crystal clear and had no issues with any distortion. This PhantomDisplay does sit right in front of the eye, not off to the side. This is one of three different PhantomDisplay models so I can't speak as to if the others sit differently on the glasses and position in front of the eye
These glasses are sample glasses with no Rx and no electronics so I can't say as to how the HUD is and if it's distracting. Once I receive those, you guys better believe I am posting about my experience and posting pictures(even if other people have already done so).
If there are questions, please leave them here and I will answer them as soon as I am able and to the best of my ability. Here is a little side image of the glasses. The arms are thin and the glasses are real light weight. Good material and feel strong.
Thanks for the pics, Kyle! Those Phantom lenses - slightly larger than I expected from the promo shots/vids, and in a more centralised position. I hope they find a way to make them slightly smaller at least...
Can you tell if the position is fine in regards to their function - are they off to the side, so that they don't impede normal forward vision?
I should mention these are a sample pair of glasses with no electronics. I live really close to where these are made(a 20 minute drive or so) and was able to get a sample pair to look at and share with you all. I will also be getting ones with electronics and I will take more pictures to share.
Sincerely appreciate the photos Kyle. They look good, though I admit that Phantom Display does look a bit like a scratch on the lens to an unsuspecting citizen. Still, I'm excited to get my pair. I got both the Phantom Display and a prescription so naturally I likely have some time to wait still.
Got these in today. The letter mentions that the PhantomDisplay in these are one of three different ones they are testing right now. These do not have an Rx. This PhantomDisplay is something that you can easily get used to, a little distracting at first but then will fade away. I will need to post again to put a second picture up, but it is noticeable when someone is looking at you. Still really cool tho. I feel like I want people to know these are different glasses so I can get to talk about them. I love it.
Good to hear they're arriving! I'd be lying if I denied I am mainly looking to read about the phantom display... Chime in, folks!
