Opened and wore the gift pair of glasses today. Love the look and design!
I noticed that other reviewers had their phantom lens more to the right of their pupil, which seems to be how it was designed, but mine sits a few millimeters from the center of it, which caused a lot of eye strain. I wanted to check if the gifts were just sent randomly without customization, or if I need to submit a ticket to get that issue remedied before the real product ships?
Another note: the glass seems to blur on the right side of the right lens, which seems to cause a bit of strain as well. Is that intended to help focus on the display?
Hmm. So far, that's at least four pairs with oddly centered displays and two pairs missing them completely that I know of. Good to know the final fulfillment center is having QC issues. Thanks for everyone's input, hope to see more as we go!
I received mine today, Frame 5. Wearing them and walking did require some getting use to, but otherwise I am very happy with them. No prescription on glasses. Also, I really like gray color.
I just received my pair. I do not notice any phantom lens or distortion or anything different in my lens. It looks like a normal lens. Is that supposed to be the case?
Every single participant may receive wholly unique units for their review in these beginning stages of the Alpha. For instance here with Experiment 2, testing the "distractability" of the Phantom Lens and how many tertiary people notice it, with minor adjustments in location and lens creation techniques we'll be able to find out which ones are viable and which are a total wash. The "bubble" around the display isn't a reflection on the final product, and as we try to stress as often as possible, everything is subject to change this early. Please evaluate each unit you receive on it's own merits when you get your survey by email!
Throwing in some pics for reference
Hey James! Just opened and wore my pair for a little bit and experienced the same thing that you were describing. Also had a similar question about the blurred view that kinda makes me nauseous - this was hard to capture, but I think what's causing the blurry effect is actually the little magnifying bubble on the phantom display causing the whole lens to appear warped or like there's a prescription on it.
