I think the core intention for the microphone to be able to answer calls is pretty useless since the eye wear does not have a audio source. In fact, it is quite useless if the intention of the microphone involves any audio feedback because if you need to put your phone in speaker mode, you don't need a microphone to begin with right?
Instead, I think if there is a mod that enables speech to text, it could help translate foreign language into text that you can view on your glasses. Other than this, I can't think of any usefulness of the microphone. The glasses could be better off without the feature or replace it with something else.
I know this topic is older but it would be cool too to use the microphone to identify a song and then it triggers a specific app to find the lyrics of said song. Then that would scroll with the song. Or it copies the text, puts it in the teleprompter and scrolls with the music.
Too ambitious?
I hoping that the mic will be used for Alexa integration, voice commands, and sound-based controls.
With some of the other smartglasses on the market, the microphones had to compensate with being ultra-sensitive. For phone calls, they are completely useless if it picks up the wind when I walk and augments ambient noise. However, I would highly appreciate it to be able to take photos or video through a stated catch phrase determined by the user if a microphone was possible (audio with such video recording would be optimum).
However, with your expected temple touch function, verbal cues via microphone may not be necessary as long as it can appear discrete to activate. This can assist with erratic drivers, muggings, animal attacks and law enforcement.
